You can permanently delete your Purchy account and all associated data at any time. This page explains how to do it from inside the app, how to request deletion by email if you no longer have access to the app, and exactly what data is deleted versus retained.

Delete from inside the Purchy app (recommended)

  1. Open the Purchy app and sign in.
  2. Tap the menu icon in the top-left corner to open the side drawer, then tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to the Account section.
  4. Tap Delete my account.
  5. Confirm the deletion when prompted. Your account and all associated data will be permanently removed.

Important: Account deletion is immediate and irreversible. You will be signed out of Purchy on all your devices. You will not be able to recover your data after confirming deletion.

Request deletion by email

If you no longer have access to the Purchy app (for example, you uninstalled it, lost your device, or are unable to sign in), you can request account and data deletion by email:

Send an email to:

services@purchy.app

Please include:

  • The email address you used to sign up for Purchy (so we can locate your account)
  • The subject line: Account Deletion Request
  • Optional: A brief reason for deletion (helps us improve — but is not required)

Verification: To protect your account, we will verify the request comes from the email address associated with your Purchy account before processing.

Timeline: We will complete the deletion within 30 days of receiving and verifying your request.

Confirmation: You will receive a confirmation email once the deletion is complete.

Delete your data without deleting your account

If you want to remove your synced receipts, emails, and AI-generated insights but keep your account active (for example, to start a fresh Gmail sync from scratch), Purchy offers a separate “Delete tracked data” option that does not delete your account.

From inside the Purchy app:

  1. Open the Purchy app and sign in.
  2. Tap the menu icon in the top-left corner to open the side drawer, then tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to the Account section.
  4. Tap Delete tracked data.
  5. Confirm when prompted. Your synced receipts, emails, and AI-generated history will be permanently removed within 30 days. Your account will remain active.

By email:

You can also request data-only deletion by emailing services@purchy.app with the subject Data Deletion Request (keep account). We will process the request within 30 days and email you a confirmation when complete.

What is deleted:

All synced receipts, raw email content, chat conversations, refund opportunities, return reminders, uploaded images, and AI-generated insights. Your profile (name, email, avatar), subscription status, and notification preferences remain intact.

What gets deleted (when you delete your account)

When you delete your Purchy account, the following data is permanently and irreversibly removed from our systems within 30 days:

  • Profile (name, email, avatar)
  • Authentication tokens and session data
  • Gmail OAuth credentials and refresh tokens
  • All synced receipts and purchase history
  • All raw email content imported during Gmail sync
  • All chat conversations with the Purchy AI assistant
  • Saved subscriptions, return reminders, refund opportunities
  • Notification preferences and history
  • Uploaded receipt images
  • All connected account data (other linked email addresses)
  • Custom user preferences and goals
  • App activity and interaction history

We do not retain any personal data, AI conversation history, or receipt content after the 30-day deletion window.

What is retained, and for how long

The following limited information may be retained after account deletion, only where required by law or to operate our service:

Anonymized analytics

Aggregated, non-identifiable usage statistics (e.g., total receipts processed across all users) may be retained indefinitely. This data cannot be tied back to any individual user and contains no personal information.

Subscription and billing records

If you ever subscribed to a paid Purchy plan, financial transaction records may be retained for up to 7 years as required by tax and accounting regulations. These records are managed by our payment processors (Apple App Store, Google Play, or RevenueCat) and contain no receipt content or email data.

Encrypted backups

Encrypted database backups may briefly contain your data for up to 30 days after deletion before being permanently overwritten. Backups are not actively accessed and become inaccessible after the 30-day window.

Legal hold (if applicable)

In rare cases where data is subject to a legal hold (active litigation, regulatory investigation, fraud prevention), we may retain specific records as required by law. We will notify affected users where permissible.

If you have an active subscription

Deleting your Purchy account does not automatically cancel an active paid subscription. To avoid future charges, please cancel your subscription before deleting your account, through either:

  • The App Store or Google Play subscription settings on your device
  • Or by contacting services@purchy.app
